Welcome Mathletes! Do you have an understanding of multiplication but get lost in the extra digits? Have you practiced multiplication without success? Well, this is the class for you! Mathletes is a fun way for learners to practice their math skills while also enjoying fun games and a social environment. In our time together, we will explore multiplication with easy-to-remember steps using the traditional method. Learners will review the basics of multiplication and review vocabulary. Learners will review the proper steps needed to multiply successfully. We will spend our time exploring multi-digit multiplication and practicing with leveled examples. Learners will practice problems with support and independently to gain confidence and understanding. We will be completing our lesson using the program, Nearpod. This allows each student to interact with the lesson while practicing problems on the screen and participating in games and activities. Day 1: How to multiply using the traditional method - Multiplying with 1-digit multipliers (12 x 5) Day 2: Multiplying with 2-digit multipliers (12 x 15) Day 3: Multiply with 2-digit multipliers (125 x 15) Day 4: Multiply with 2-digit multipliers and larger multiplicands (125 x 15 or 1,256 x 5) *What is Nearpod? Nearpod is a free program that allows me to share my slideshow with my students. I create my interactive lesson which includes video clips, games, individual problems for each student to solve, and more. To access this program your child simply needs to copy the class link provided or enter the code into the Nearpod App. It is quick, simple, and fun!*

Hello learners!
My name is Tara Laczynski, and I live in South Carolina, USA. I am a certified teacher with 17 years of experience, teaching 3rd through 7th grades, with classroom expertise in ESL and Advanced Academic (Gifted and Talented) learners. In 2018, I transitioned to online English teaching, conducting over 2,500 classes for students of all ages.
Since joining Outschool in April 2021, I’ve been thrilled to teach math to students worldwide. My classes encourage learners to take risks, try new things, and build math confidence in a supportive environment. I believe that confidence grows through understanding, and I love seeing students explain the “why” behind their answers, leading to enriching discussions.
As a Nearpod Certified Educator, I incorporate interactive Nearpod elements in my classes, gamifying learning so students actively engage and practice independently. To reach even more families, I am expanding my program to include other educators who share my commitment to making math engaging, accessible, and confidence-boosting.
