➕This is an ongoing class so feel free to jump in any time you like!  The skills I teach are based on a third-grade curriculum, but anyone who feels they would benefit from this class is welcome to join in.

➕Each week, we will be focusing on new math skills while exploring strategies to master them. Word problems are an essential part of math, so they will be woven into various lessons. Over the course of our time together, we’ll cover numerous key concepts for third grade.

➕Our lessons will be filled with engaging activities that make learning enjoyable while supporting your child’s growth and success! Math doesn't have to be intimidating—in this class, it’s an adventure waiting to be explored!

➕Learners will always be welcomed into a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment. We’ll kick off each session with a Problem of the Day—a random, brain-boosting challenge that might be connected to previous lessons or it might be something completely different, just to get our minds ready!

➕Before we begin to learn anything new, we may take some time to review a previous concept if the need presents itself. Each week, we’ll focus on a different math topic. Mostly I will use the interactive tool of Zoom’s writing feature. Sometimes I will incorporate teacher-created Slides into the lessons. Part of our time together will be spent explaining the concept and teaching the strategy.  The best way for students to learn is by DOING, so we will have lots of time for practicing the skill and strategy. 

➕I love to keep my students actively involved, so I make sure to engage every learner. We work through problems together, then I give students the opportunity to solve several on their own. I always encourage questions, in fact, I welcome them.  And for anyone needing extra support, we can tackle more problems together to help your learner build their confidence.

➕If time allows, we’ll wrap up with a quick round of 'Teach the Teacher', where learners can review what we've covered in a fun, engaging way.

➕I don’t assign weekly homework assignments, but if you would like something for your child to work on between classes, please let me know and I can make something available to you.
