One week after attending this session, parents will receive a detailed, yet informal, progress assessment report (in the form of a pdf) in their inbox. The report will list out the problems solved, the learner’s responses, the correct answers, any gaps in learning, recommendations for resolving any learning gaps and the learner’s current level of mastery for each math concept listed. Parents are encouraged to save/download/print the report as soon as possible and keep it for their personal records. The instructor will not catalog and keep these records for any more than 14 days.Class Experience

*PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE CLASS DESCRIPTION FOR A COMPLETE UNDERSTANDING OF THIS ASSESSMENT SESSION* 🎮 In this one-time session, learners will not be asked to take a test. Instead, they will be asked to play a game, which will require them to answer various questions from multiple math concepts. Not all learners do well with testing. It can sometimes be very stressful for them. On the contrary, children thrive when they are allowed to have fun and play a game. This math game assessment will require that the learners solve problems categorized by the following math concepts: 🔷Numbers, 🔷Addition, 🔷Subtraction, 🔷Multiplication, 🔷Division, 🔷Time, 🔷US Currency, 🔷US Measures, 🔷Fractions, 🔷Decimals, 🔷Integers, 🔷Percents, 🔷Geometry, 🔷Probability, 🔷Graphing and 🔷Algebra. Upon enrollment, parents will be prompted to share which study/grade level they believe their learner is currently working at. This assessment session can be scheduled for the following ages and levels of study: 🔶 Ages - 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 🔶 Levels - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th The assessment will begin within the learner’s projected study level (as determined by parents) and it will be adjusted based on the answers that the learner gives for each category. This is an “instructor-led” assessment. The instructor will monitor the learner’s progress and help to move the assessment along; however, the instructor will not provide any assistance with solving the actual problems. Remember, this is an assessment to help gauge the learner’s ability to master each skill on their own. 🎯 The purposes of this assessment are information and awareness. Many parents have requested some form of evaluation for their learners as they move through different levels of study each year. Evaluations that do not stress out the learners, such as this assessment, can be a very good resource for both the parent and the child. It helps parents to pinpoint any gaps in their child’s education so that they can make informed decisions moving forward. Simultaneously, it provides a fair shot at assessments for those learners who just don’t do well on tests. This assessment is a measuring tool to gauge where your learner excels and where extra practice is needed. In this session the assessment materials will be presented to the learners via an interactive Canva or Google slideshow presentation (shared on the teacher's device, only). No external links will be clicked. No additional websites will be visited. No additional logins are necessary for the learners.

My experiences as a home educator and private school teacher have afforded me 10+ years teaching math concepts to students of all ages, especially 1st through 7th graders. Throughout those years I have developed many ways to make math mastery attainable for learners within the different levels. My all-time favorite way is through gaming. Assessments can sometimes be stressful, but I find that children love playing games.
