In this three week class, students will learn all the basics on how to make a scarf using a knitting loom. Using a knitting loom is a fun and easy way to make a scarf, and any type of yarn can be used! Weekly plan: In week one, we will learn how to make a slip knot and how to load the yarn on the loom. We will start making our scarf. In week two, we will continue working on our scarves, troubleshooting along the way. In week three, we will continue working on our scarves and learn how to cast off. *Please note, we will learn all the steps for making a scarf, but students will need to work on the scarf on their own, outside of class, if they want to finish the scarf. Students may also learn the steps in class and then finish the scarf at their leisure. This class will be structured as a workshop. Mrs. Borton will show student how to do all the steps, as a whole group, and then she will help students individually to make sure that all students are successful. For that reason, students must feel comfortable having their cameras on to show Mrs. B. their work in progress. Students will spend most of their class time watching demonstrations and working on their own projects. This work time allows students an opportunity to chat with other students in the class, where they can show their own work to others and encourage others to show their work to them. No prior knowledge is needed to take this class. This class is a perfect introduction to one of the simplest forms of knitting, and it is appropriate for learners of all ages. Mrs. Borton is a very patient instructor who has years of experience working with children and teaching knitting!
