Class Experience

Students will learn how to knit in this beginners' class. Knitting is not only a fabulous life-long hobby, but it is also a great way to express yourself with your own creations! Imagine wearing a one-of-a kind hat or scarf that you knitted yourself!
Each week, students will learn a new stitch or stitch group and learners will progress at their own rate. This class is structured as a workshop, where students will learn a new stitch or stitches and practice during class. Mrs. Borton will demonstrate each stitch and then help each student to learn the new stitches. The class will be completely hands-on.
Week 1 - Students will learn how to do an easy cast on. Students will learn to do the knit stitch.
Week 2 - Students will learn how to do the purl stitch and also how to do stockinette.
Week 3 - Students will learn how to do the rib stitch and its variations.
Week 4 - Students will learn how to do the double seed stitch.
Week 5 - Students will learn how to do a simple cable.
Week 6 - Students will learn how to do the single seed stitch and how to bind off.
Since this is a beginners' class, no prior knowledge of knitting is needed. Learners will start knitting on day one!
***Please note*** Students will progress at their own rate in class. Some students will learn all the stitches and some students will want to keep practicing the basic two stitches.
***Another note*** During the school year, this class will be offered every week. During the summer, this class will be offered EVERY OTHER week.
