In this self-paced class, young artists will paint new artwork each week on their own time using a variety of techniques and tools and always inspired by a rainbow of colors!
Class experience
US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this 3-week painting and drawing club, artists will compose a new fun and colorful piece in each lesson. We will use various paints, markers, and other materials you probably have at home already, like salt or shaving cream, to create vibrant, energetic, and individual creations. All specific supplies needed will be posted the week before class (usually on Fridays at 12pm CT). Each week on Monday by 9am CT, I will post a new video that will guide artists through the project step-by-step....
My goal is for artists to create beautiful and brilliant compositions using different media and fun techniques; to inspire them to try more on their own; and, for them to return to the studio for something new the following week!
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA and have enjoyed working with vibrant colors through markers, paints, and chalk pastels. My personal style is more abstract, graphic, and even impressionistic and this is reflected in my own painting style over the years. I enjoy the spontaneity of these creative painting projects and there is no better group of learners to do this with than the younger set!
Homework Offered
Each week artists are expected to try a new project and technique and share their masterpieces in class. Further, I want artists to celebrate with others in the class and provide constructive and supportive feedback about other artwork shared in class. I will prompt artists to respond to specific questions in relation to their own art and others.Assessments Offered
I will provide feedback as they post images of their artwork to celebrate and reinforce the art elements and techniques we are learning about each week.Grades Offered
Specific supplies each week will be sent in an email by the Friday before at 12pm CDT For the week of October 2: You will need: -Mixed media/art paper (please do not use printer paper!) -Acrylic/Tempera paints- I will be using blues, greens, yellows, white, black, red, brown -Cup of water and brushes- bring different sizes if you have them -Paper towels or old towel -Printer paper, pencil and eraser The following supplies are used frequently: Mixed Media paper, or other art paper (paper that holds up to water and paint) Tempera or Acrylic paints Liquid Watercolors Thick Crayola washable markers Crayons Black Sharpie marker Brushes in a few different widths Old towel or paper towels Plates Little cups
