** New to Outschool? Use code MelanieWia2020 to save $20! ** Welcome to “Life in Nazi Germany”! It can be challenging to imagine life in Nazi Germany under Adolf Hitler's rule in the 1930s at the cusp of war. This course aims to help students understand daily life in Germany. As a teacher of history, I am often asked by my students how people could let the rise of Nazi Germany happen. Through these four classes, we will explore the rise and progress of the Nazi Party and the changing of the general population to allow for a dictator to assume control of their everyday lives. From swastika-shaped cookie cutters to hate-based propaganda, the lives of German citizens were heavily influenced by Nazi ideology and ordinary citizens were encouraged to oppress and denounce their neighbours. This four-week course will be guided by slideshow presentations with pictures, videos, and discussion questions. Students are not required to have extensive knowledge of this time period but should understand some of the basics of World War Two and who Adolf Hitler was. This course is designed to be educational and create discussion, so students comfortable discussing history will be able to learn and engage with the material. Please see the Syllabus tab for a breakdown of each week. *Please note, if you are looking for other topics related to this course, I offer a variety of World War Two courses: Adolf Hitler: An Infamous Dictator - WW2 Anne Frank: Her Story and Legacy Land and Sea: The Battles of World War Two / WW2 WWII History: Dictators of World War Two World War Two History - The Holocaust: Understanding the Past
