If students do not complete the tasks and do not participate in class, or leave the course early for whatever reason, no final assessment will be given.

Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 10
Welcome to World History: The Cold War!

In this ten-week course, we will examine the causes of the Cold War, life during this tense period, and the fallout of a war that some argue, never fully erupted. This course will focus on the changes in our world including technological developments, country relations, and long-lasting alliances. We will examine the conflict from both the side of the Western allies and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), including how both sides used spies to further their understanding of each other.
For a detailed list of topics that will be covered in this course, please view a week-by-week breakdown in the Syllabus tab.

In these classes, students will view a slideshow presentation with pictures, key information, videos, and discussion questions to help guide our time together. My goal as a history teacher is to have your child remember the experiences and stories of those who lived during those times and to gain an empathetic understanding of the challenges of those living during this event. Using the historical thinking concepts (continuity and change, historical significance, cause and consequence, historical perspective, and ethical dimensions) students will critically examine the Cold War. It is important for students to understand the lasting impacts that history has on our present world.

In addition to our weekly classes together, students will also be given a weekly task to complete to help solidify their understanding of particular historical topics. Please see the 'Homework' tab below for more information.

Please contact me if you have any questions regarding the course, I am happy to help.
Accommodations can be made to help your learner be successful in the course.
