In this class your child will be guided through the steps of the writing process that are appropriate for Kindergarten. We'll begin by planning - thinking about a true story that has happened this summer and describing it using our words. Then, we'll draw our story using shapes we know to make characters, a setting, and actions within our story. After sketching in pencil to make sure we make no mistakes, we'll color our picture making sure that we use real colors. Finally we'll practice retelling our story so we can share it with readers of our story.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Florida Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hi! My name is Ashley (better known as Ms. Butler). I have a masters degree in Elementary Education from the University of Florida and I LOVE teaching Kindergarten! I think we should all have fun while learning, using different things such as play doh, crayons, bubbles, and jump ropes. One of my favorite quotes about Kindergarten is "We have to go slow so we can go fast". Starting slow so students have the building blocks they need to understand and enjoy the subject matter they'll be learning is what makes them quickly flourish into readers, writers, mathematicians, and scientists.
