Learning a new language may be challenging, but with the right kind of activities, it can be a fun goal to achieve. This course is beginner-friendly, suitable for students with zero to a little knowledge of Tagalog, as well as more advanced students. Advanced students will have the opportunity to review basic concepts and will be challenged with questions and simple conversations. Lessons are designed for students who can read and have a basic understanding of English grammar. In this ongoing course, students will learn common phrases, fun expressions, and conversational Tagalog. They will have the chance to improve their speaking and comprehension skills. The course covers Tagalog reading, pronunciation and grammar basics. Students will practice using targeted vocabulary to construct their own sentences. I prepare slides and activities to make learning Tagalog enjoyable and relatable for everyone in the classroom. I encourage free talk and interactions to create an informative and engaging class environment. Each class will be 30-35 minutes long and will include any or all of the following: Introduction (3 minutes) Cultural Lesson (2 minutes) Main Lesson and Practice (20 minutes) Review and Application - (5minutes) Question and Sharing - (5minutes) I teach this class in different sections with various start times. Topics covered class include mealtimes, daily routines, action words, opposites, shopping, asking questions, hobbies, and more. Teacher expertise and credentials
I was born and raised in the Philippines; and speak four major Filipino languages/dialects. It excites me to see families giving their children the gift of connecting to their cultural roots through language. With this in mind, I have published some Tagalog books on Amazon that I believe are helpful for families learning Tagalog at home.
Before moving to the US, I was a licensed school teacher in the Philippines and taught Filipino in the classroom. I understand the challenges of learning a new language and strive to be patient and kind to my students. I work to create a fun and engaging learning environment for them and measure my success by my students' progress.
