Class Experience

Let's keep reading! Is your child getting ready to enter kindergarten? Do they know their letters and sounds? Ready to learn their sight words? I teach kindergarten and I love teaching children to read. This class will introduce the sight words- like, to, is, you
This is the 3rd group of sight words I will be teaching if you have attended the first 2. Your child can join this class even if they weren't in the first two!!
We will learn to read and write sight words in this engaging and fun class. Sight words are words we need to learn in a "snap" and are not decodable. The words will be introduced with interactive activities like building the words with letter tiles, playdough, and sight word songs.
In this class I am introducing 4 new words. Your child will read a sight word reader using the new sight words and we will also focus on beginning reading skills such as "look at the picture", and "check the beginning sound."

I am very passionate about early childhood, teaching reading, writing, and reading intervention. I love making learning meaningful and engaging for students, but also want it to be fun!! I love books and sharing that love with young children. Learning letters/letter sounds, blending sounds, sight words, story elements are just a few of the things I teach to prepare and support young readers and writers. In my drawing classes I encourage children to use shapes to draw to tell a story.

I have 3 grown children and 2 dogs that I enjoy spending time with. We also love to travel as a family.
I am excited to see your child in my classroom!!
