Class Experience

Join us in every weekend learning or reviewing a different letter in every class!!

Learners will spend their time in each class being able to identify a single letter in upper-case, lower-case, and sound!

The class will begin with the teacher introducing the letter in upper-case and lower-case and explain what sound it makes.

The teacher will then present different animated pictures of words that start with the letter, emphasizing the sound with each learner!

The learners will then participate in show-and-tell and share 1-2 items with the class that they brought from home that start with the focus letter!! At the same time, learners will be listening out for the sound the letter makes. This allows for application to real-world/everyday items they see or use at home!

We will also sing the Alphabet song together.

The learners will then work on 2 letter worksheets in which they will be identifying the focus letter in a set of letters, coloring, and writing the focus letter as well. The 2nd worksheet will be a letter hunt game! The students will also cut/paste the letters to matching boxes!

The learners will lastly work on a letter drawing created by the teacher!!

During the week, the teacher will post additional literacy booklets, worksheets, and interactive Nearpod lessons based on the 2 letters that were worked on over the weekend! This will allow for reinforcement and practice with the letters learned!

Note: All activities level of difficulty will be based on student output during class. The teacher will always adjust based on the learner’s needs.

The learners will be expected to play through games and question-answer activities. The learner will be expected to participate in class in order for the teacher to perform informal assessment that the learner is meeting the objectives.

NOTE: Please FEEL FREE to request a time above! I will do my best to accommodate!!!

Welcome!

My name is Yuri Casas and I am so excited to be your Outschool Teacher! I live in South Texas (Rio Grande Valley) and am a single parent to my 3-year old daughter who was recently diagnosedwith Autism. I have been working as a Teacher for 12 years and have worked with all ages! I recently obtained my Master's degree from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Educational Leadership. I am also very fluent in the Spanish language as well!
(Si usted quisiera que su hijo(a) tomara mi clase de ingles, puedo traducir mis lecciones durante mis clases que están en ingles!)

I am currently certified to teach Early Childhood to 6th grade in the state of Texas! I have spent several years in the Pre-Kindergarten classroom and moved over to the Special Education specialization. I spent a few years working in the Inclusion and Resource unit for grade levels 1st through 5th and Life-skills Unit for grades 9-12.

My teaching style is energetic, singing songs, and learning through games and play. I love to motivate my students with constant positive feedback as well as rewards! I will be focusing on letter identification, sounds, phonics, colors, shapes, sight words, fluency, and learning to read! In addition to this, I plan to extend my classes to a focus in science with experiments and book clubs using a variety of familiar reading strategies for ages 7-10!

If you have any questions or concerns or would even like to request a specific class from me, do not hesitate to contact me! I would be more than happy to and would love to tailor lessons for all kinds of learners! Please be sure to follow my profile for any upcoming classes!
