Homework
1 hour per week. Fun worksheets that allow the students to write, recognize, color the letters. The homework is up to the parent's discretion but you can feel free to send me a pic of the homework and I will grade it and send back to help encourage the student. Homework can be given before or after the class, whichever you prefer.Class Experience
This ongoing course is for ESL or native English speakers who want to learn the English alphabet and the sounds each letter makes. In this course, we will use the ESL STAR ENGLISH CURRICULUM which is known for it's fun and engaging slideshow presentation. The lessons teach how to recognize, name, write and sound the letters. There are 2 videos in each lesson, fun interactive slides and an opportunity to write the letter that is being worked on that week. There are fun reward slides and homework for each letter. This is a private, 1 on 1 course, which will allow the student to feel comfortable expressing themselves and asking questions. The class will progress at a pace that is comfortable for the student, in order for me to address the student's specific needs. If it take more than one lesson to fully learn the letter that is okay. I believe in creating a fun but structured atmosphere to increase student output and progress. Learning phonics has never been so much fun. I can't wait to meet you learner in class! β£οΈ

Hello! My name is Kandy Bickart and I live in North Carolina, USA. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology, an Associate Degree in Biological Science and a TESOL certificate.
I've always had a passion for teaching. I have over 15 years teaching experience both in the classroom and online. I taught in the elementary school level and then became an instructor at my local Community College in the GED and ESL program. I have also enjoyed teaching ESL online to children for the past six years.
BOB CLASSES - I have designed courses for both preschool, elementary ages and ESL students. My courses have unique content with entertaining and informative slideshow. I have included a fun puppet friend named Bob throughout the slideshows, which allows the students to be truly engaged while learning.
READING/WRITING CLASSES - I also have an ongoing reading and writing course with the Wonders Curriculum. I have tried to make it more fun and engaging by presenting it in a slideshow with videos, animations and sound effects. Learning to read and write has never been so much fun!
PHONICS - I have recently added a phonics ongoing course using the Star Curriculum, which uses a fun, interactive and animated slideshow.
SPEAKING CLASSES - I use an effective concept created by Cambridge University that presents a colorful picture with a lot of action going on. This gives a shy student or a student that loves to talk the opportunity to tell me all what they see. I have added some fun activities to keep the student engaged.
READING CLASSES - There are two separate reading course, beginner first grade and mid-year second grade. I have animated the short stories which makes them even more engaging. We learn phonics, reading comprehension and more.
I believe that children learn best in a relaxed but structured environment that encourages them to express themselves. I also feel that children should have fun while they are learning! So FUN is always part of my lesson plan!
