US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
In Ms. Julie and Pippa's classes, the focus is on keeping kids connected, engaged, learning and smiling. On Mondays, we learn the alphabet and early literacy skills. Feel free to jump into the class at any point in its run; we'll do something new each week, so your learner won't be behind if they didn't start at the beginning. We will follow the same schedule with new material in every 30-minute class: - 👋🎶 Sing good morning and check on our friends' feelings - 🎒❓Explore our mystery bag to learn about a new letter - 🎶🪩 Move and groove to a wiggle-buster song - 🎯 Sing or play a fun and silly game to solidify our new knowledge - ✏️ Draw a picture using our letter of the day - 📚 Read and interact with a theme-related story - 👋🎶 Sing a goodbye song Our class will include movement, so students will benefit from being able to get out of their seat, and will enjoy class the most with at least enough room to spin with their arms out. I prioritize student voice in my classes, so depending on how much my learners have to day on any given day, classes can run up to 5 minutes over their allotted time. I will always give learners the option to say goodbye at the end of the formal class time. 🤫 To limit background noise and distraction, students will be muted unless it is their turn to talk. 🔇 As a teacher, I am only able to request that your learner unmute; I cannot unmute them myself! 📢 If your child is unable to reliably unmute their microphone, please stay close by so that you can assist. I will help children develop this technological literacy as our classes together go forward. 📝 At the end of class, I will provide an optional extension activity to keep the fun times rolling throughout your day, wherever it may take you. Feel free to sign up for one class at a time, or to join each Monday to study every letter of the alphabet! The schedule of "letters of the day" is below. Note that we study the alphabet out of order! For more information on why this is beneficial to early literacy, take a look here: https://www.thiscraftymom.com/the-best-order-to-introduce-letters-and-sounds/. We are continuing a schedule of letter learning from the summer, but will loop back to ensure that all letters are covered as class continues.
