1 hour per week. Students will be required to complete Nearpod activities as well as record themselves answering questions in Spanish through FlipGrid in Nearpod.Assessment
Students will be evaluated through informal assessments when the teacher reviews their response to Nearpod activities. Teacher will then provide feedback to students.Class Experience
"A different language is a different vision of life." Frederico Fellini Let's learn Spanish! In this class, we will learn the basics of Spanish. We will learn greetings, introductions, days of the week, colors, numbers and how to say "I like" in Spanish. The teacher will share slideshows with vocabulary. Students will be able to hear the pronunciation of words, as well as see images to help them remember the vocabulary. Students will also use Nearpod for interactive learning, and FlipGrid through Nearpod. FlipGrid will allow students to record themselves speaking Spanish in a FlipGrid group made just for this class. Only the students in this group will have access to the FlipGrid group. Students will be required to interact by sharing video posts with the class. For example, students will have to introduce themselves in a FlipGrid video and other students will be able to respond or comment on their videos. They might also have to share an activity that could help others learn the vocabulary introduced in the lesson. Students will be able to respond to other student's FlipGrid videos and ask questions to each other. Students might be asked to share what their favorite color is in Spanish, or how many pets. They will also be encouraged to ask each other questions in Spanish through the videos. The great thing about FlipGrid is that students can choose to record only their voice or an actual video. You can also record a video without including your face. You can add stickers and effects to a background of your choosing. Using Nearpod and FlipGrid will allow students to independently learn and practice Spanish. Students will also interact by playing games on Nearpod. Nearpod has many different ways to allow students to interact with the lesson. For example: matching games, Time to Climb (question and answer race to the top), idea boards, drawing or writing activities just to name a few. Week 1: Greetings and Introductions Week 2: Days of the Week Week 3: Numbers 1-10 (maybe 20, if students are ready for it) Week 4: Colors and Me Gusta

Students will be using Nearpod for this class. Nearpod is an educational platform that allows students to interact with the presentations. Students will also be using FlipGrid through Nearpod presentations. The students will have to verbally respond to questions through FlipGrid. This will allow the teacher to evaluate their pronunciation. According to Nearpod students do not need to have an account. Students will be provided with a unique username to use with FlipGrid

We will also use Google Jamboard and Google Slides for some interactive learning. It would be helpful if students can create a copy of the Jamboards I share. Google Slides will be basically the same as Nearpod, but in a format that they can keep for as long as they want.

I am a certified teacher offering classes in Spanish, English as a Second Language, Reading, and elementary school subjects and crochet. When I was in high school, I had an opportunity to internship at an elementary school and from that moment I fell in love with education. I went on to get my degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and have been teaching ever since. I started out in the regular elementary classroom and then had opportunities to teach Spanish, Reading and English as a Second Language.
I love helping children grow as learners. It gives me great joy to see them learn and achieve their goals. There is nothing better than working with a struggling reader and hearing them say "I can read this!" I believe that children learn best when they are having fun, and feel safe. It is my goal to make each child feel this way. I want them to know that they matter to me.
I was born in Venezuela and moved to the states at the age of 10. This has helped me connect with my ESL students in the past because I understand what they are going through. In Venezuela they speak Spanish, which is why I feel comfortable teaching Spanish to young learners. I have 3 kids and I decided to work from home so that I could enjoy as much of my time with them as possible. Time flies and I want to continue working in education and encouraging children to find a love of learning.Reviews
