Class Experience

US Grade 2
In this ongoing course, learners will develop their maths skills. This course is part of a six year primary maths course that takes a problem-solving approach to teaching young learners the skills they need to become confident mathematicians.

This course contains a greater focus on the use of manipulatives in the classroom, pictorial and abstract representations to promote deeper learning, language support to help EAL students develop fluency in mathematical language.

Week of 30/1/24: Comparing three-digit numbers
Week of 7/10/24: Estimation and rounding
Week of 14/10/24: Number sequences

Fractions
Week of 21/10/24 - Halves and equivalent fractions
Week of 28/10/24 - Finding fractions of shapes and numbers

Mental Calculation
Week of 4/11/24 - Mental strategies for addition and subtraction
Week of 11/11/24 - Mental strategies for multiplication and division

Addition and Subtraction
Week of 18/11/24 - Adding and subtracting multiples of 10 and 100
Week of 25/11/24 - Adding several small numbers
Week of 2/12/24 - Adding pairs of two- and three-digit numbers
Week of 9/12/24 - Adding and subtracting numbers

Multiplication and Division
Week of 16/12/24 - Multiplying and dividing numbers
Week of 23/12/24 - Multiplying teen numbers by 3 and 5
Week of 30/12/24 - Dividing numbers with remainders

Shapes and Geometry
Week of 6/1/25 - Identifying and classifying polygons
Week of 13/1/25 - Properties of 3D shapes
Week of 20/1/25 - Draw and complete 2D shapes

Position and Movement
Week of 27/1/25 - Using a grid to describe position
Week of 3/2/25 - Drawing right angles and comparing angles

Length, Mass and Capacity
Week of 10/2/25 - Choosing appropriate units and converting units
Week of 17/2/25 - Solving word problems involving measures
Week of 24/2/25 - Constructing accurately using measures

Time
Week of 3/3/25 - Knowing the relationship between units of time
Week of 10/3/25 - Reading the time to the nearest 5 minutes
Week of 17/3/25 - Calculating time intervals
Week of 24/3/25 - Reading a calendar

Data Handling
Week of 31/3/25 - Tally and bar charts, frequency tables, pictograms
Week of 7/4/25 - Venn diagrams and Carroll diagrams
