Welcome to "Let's Get Singing!", the class designed for young singers ready to learn more about their voice. In this class, students will learn about everything from beat and rhythm, to vocal anatomy. Each week, students will receive the following: Video Lesson, Guided Vocal Warmup, and Repertoire Focus Video. 

Through these videos and recordings, students receive in depth explanations on topics and practices. Each week, students will also be given the opportunity to submit a recording or video for feedback. Although this is not required, many students enjoy the chance to have specific feedback given.

Learning Goals

Students will have a clearer understanding of common rhythms, use of the staff, meter, and solfège Do to La.
Students will be able to explain how sound is created using the vocal cords and vocal onset.

Unit 1: Week One: Quarter Note/Rest, Do and Re, Setup and Chorus
Lesson 1:
Week One
 In this lesson, students will learn about the quarter note and rest, along with do and re on the staff. Students will practice new rhythms and pitches.

Week Two
 Students will learn about the vocal anatomy of vocal chords, and how they create sound.

 In this lesson, students will learn about the half note and rest, along with mi and fa on the staff. Students will practice new rhythms and pitches.

 Students will learn about vocal onset, it's definition, and how the vocal cords are affected by vocal onset.

🎵𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲
- Voice/Piano/Group Voice

Michelle currently holds a bachelors degree from the University of Central Missouri in K-12 Vocal Music Education. She has worked with both voice and piano students in the studio setting since 2018. Before opening her own online studio, Michelle directed musicals, produced elementary performances, and coached her studio students through state/national vocal and piano competitions. In her free time, Michelle enjoys spending time outdoors with her boyfriend Jack and their two dogs, Luna and Sawyer. She enjoys gardening, baking, yoga, reading, and of course making and listening to music. Read more about Michelle’s background on her profile.

🎵𝗞𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝘂𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗻
- Voice/Piano 

Kaitlin is a certified K-12 Music Educator, and holds a bachelors in Vocal Music Education from the University of Central Missouri. She began teaching in 2019, but her passion for music began when she was a young child. Kaitlin currently teaches middle school and high school choir, show choir, and group guitar at her local public school. In addition to choir and guitar, Kaitlin also prepares her students for district and state solo/ensemble contests each year, and directs their school musical performances. In her free time, she enjoys hiking with her fiancé Klint and their two dogs, Hank and Henry. Kaitlin and her family enjoy traveling to new places, and going to the lake and river in the summertime.
