In this ongoing course, learners will be introduced to word family spelling patterns (rhyming words, CVC words), to help improve reading and spelling ability.

Class Experience

This is the first session of my Word Family class. In this ongoing class, learners will be introduced to 2 new word families each week. This section will last for 10 weeks. 

Each class will follow the same predictable pattern.
  1. Introduction of new word families.
  2. Practice pronunciation and spelling.
  3. Practice writing.
  4. Practice reading activities.
  5. Check for understanding through games and participation.

Learners will:
 1. Be introduced to common word families.
 2. Learn to read and write words through predictable patterns and rhymes.
 3. Demonstrate understanding through class participation. 
 4. Increase confidence in reading and speaking in a small group setting.

I will provide weekly worksheets that will be used in class. They will be sent to students on the Sunday before class. Students are welcome to print these and fill them out during class. If a printer is not available, students are always welcome to use paper or a whiteboard in class to practice spelling/writing skills.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
