Course Experience:

Over five exciting days, you'll dive into the world of composition through the lens of a hilarious whodunit. As you work to solve the mystery of Isabella's destroyed notebook, you'll learn and apply fundamental composition techniques.

What you'll achieve:

Day 3: Sequence - The Plot Unravels
• Learn about musical sequences and their power in composition
• Study and perform famous sequential passages
• Create sequences within your evolving composition

Day 4: Retrograde - A Twist in the Tale
• Explore the concept of retrograde in music
• Practice retrograde techniques with guided examples
• Apply retrograde to add intrigue to your composition

Day 5: Solve the Mystery!
• Combine all learned elements to complete your composition
• Perform and discuss each other's musical creations
• Solve the mystery of Isabella's notebook
• Reflect on future composing strategies and possibilities

Learning Goals
Students will learn about four of the fundamental building blocks in music: Motive, Repetition, Sequence and Retrograde. Students will learn how they are used in popular and classical music, and how to incorporate them into their own compositions. 

My lessons will provide a supportive, creative space for students to discover the joy of making music. Whether you're new to the instrument or continuing your studies, my goal is to foster your love of music through tailored instruction and a strengths-based approach.

Most of all, I hope you'll walk away feeling empowered in your ability to express yourself musically. My hope is that the music you learn brings you years of enrichment - both in technical skill and personal fulfillment. Let's get started!
