Welcome to Coding with Scratch Jr. *Please note: this class is not for beginners. Lessons are aimed for students with Scratch Jr. experience.* Students new to Scratch Jr. should take my self pace beginners class. **Please join class and using a different device so students can see teacher's screen as they code. It is important to join class on time or students will not get to complete their project.** Students will practice the basics of programming, problem solving and critical thinking skills with Scratch Jr. Each week will be a unique project. Students will follow along with teacher as they create a new project every week, but can start creating independently when ready. I will challenge students as needed. Students will learn the following in a series of classes: - use and code one or more characters - change the look and size of a character - use one or more background - create your own character and/or background - add voice to characters - use command repeat - use speed command - hide and show characters - add speech bubbles Students will need to download the app: Scratch Jr. before class.

Hello! My name is Cynthia Burleigh. I live in Texas. I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor in Science in Information Systems. I started my career in a banking institute, but quickly realized I wanted to become a teacher. I have been working in education for 15 years, 3 years teaching with Outschool. I am Bilingual Certified - speak English and Spanish and teach Bilingual and ESL students. My teaching experience includes: Robotics, Codings, Spanish, Pre K - 3rd grade Bilingual instruction, Bilingual Reading Specialist, and STEM teacher.
I love to teach Reading, Math, Spanish, Technology and STEM (including robotics). I love spending time with family, teaching, and running. A little fun fact about me...I run marathons for fun! I can't wait to see you in class.Reviews
