Backgammon is an ancient game as old as chess and go. Learn how to set up, count and move your pieces. It is a game of luck as dicce are involved, but strategy has its place as well. I will show how to set up and move on the board, what "home" is and what an actual "gammon" is. No previous experience is needed. Students will learn (possibly memorize??) the basic dice rolls that are usually used in specific ways. How to "strike" your opponent and how to "block" your home base and "bear off" (remove) to win, and how to anticipate possible moves by your opponent. (we will not use a doubling cube at this level)

Bring your own board, though it is not required. I will be teaching a more advanced class later on.
