US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
In this semester long flex class, students will learn everything they need to know to have a successful beginning in Kindergarten from a real kindergarten teacher! We will cover letters, numbers, shapes, colors, and practice fine motor skills. Learning is accomplished through the use of pre-recorded class videos (NO LIVE MEETINGS), so you can choose what time of day this best fits into your schedule! This course is perfect for those that are homeschooling and would like some support for their child to learn their letters and sounds to begin reading. This class is ideal for those at a preschool level that will be entering kindergarten and those that are currently in kindergarten. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= During this semester long course, we will cover math and reading with a focus on letter recognition and sounds (Aa-Zz), blending sounds to read words, uppercase and lowercase letter formation, writing numbers (1-20), number recognition, counting, and 2D shapes! A FLEX class does not rely on live meetings but instead has videos, worksheets and other posts in the Outschool classroom for learning to take place. This is perfect for learning letter sounds because your child can practice over and over again. This also gives your child the opportunity to learn at their own pace and meet their needs. ❇️Each week we will focus on two letters, two numbers, one shape, and one color. I will post 4 videos a week (Monday-Thursday) as well as links to additional content to keep your child engaged and always learning. The videos will allow me to teach the content for the week and explain the activities your child will complete each day. I will share additional links and printables needed for each lesson, so there is not a need to search for extra activities. Friday will be the day to wrap everything up, make sure all lessons are completed, content is mastered, and submit your work for grading so I can see your progress. -=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= CLASS SUPPLIES: ⤵️ *These are HIGHLY recommended to get the full benefit of the course and complete assignments* ✳️ whiteboard & dry erase marker ✳️ colored paper plate with some salt (to use as a sand tray each class) ✳️ math ten frame (provided resource--make sure to download) ✳️ math counters to use on your ten frame (beans, counters, mini erasers, etc.) ✳️ play dough ✳️ course worksheets printed off ✳️ pencils, crayons, scissors, glue sticks ⭐There are no live meetings for this class. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, thank you so much for showing interest in my classes! My name is Heather Horn and I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I have been a public school teacher for 14 years in addition to being a substitute teacher for 4 years prior to that. I am passionate about preparing littles for the beginning of their school career! Kindergarten readiness is so important to start them off on the right foot and become successful learners. Teaching kids to read is another passion of mine and such an important milestone in kindergarten, so I've had lots of experience with that. I always want to make learning fun and engaging so they come back for more! Students learn best when having fun, so that's always my goal. We love to smile, laugh, have a good time, and learn some things along the way! I hope to see you in my classroom soon!
