Assessment
I will begin my tutoring session with an initial assessment on day 2 to find out where my lessons will begin and what your child needs. Every three weeks, I will assess again so that I know the progress we are making and can share all of this data with you. I will have my exact assessment forms and styles I use currently within my classroom and will email them to you every three weeks with a summary of what the results mean. I will also let you know what my next steps will be and how I will go about building upon what your child already has mastered. I will also provide you with some at home activities you can do to build upon what I will be doing in my sessions. One other thing that I do with all my families is make sure you can contact me with any questions or concerns you might have no matter the amount. I promise to get back to you within 24 hours. I tell all my parents that I will make sure I give their children the education, love and respect I expect my own children to get from their teachers. This is the basis for all I do to ensure your child feels confident and secure.

Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
Beginner Level
I will be teaching phonics including letter recognition, sounds, how words can be blended and segmented, rhyming words, compound words, and much more as your child progresses including sight words and early reading. My second tutoring class focuses on all things early math education including but not limited to rote counting, number recognition, one to one correspondence, patterns, shapes, adding and taking away plus calendar concepts (and more). I follow the same sequence of daily teaching I currently do within my own classroom because I have developed a solid and proven technique full of fun activities and engaging learning. I will interact with my learners the entirety of our sessions and this will be done in a one to one tutoring style.

Learning Goals

Students will develop a strong foundation in all things early childhood. One class solely focused on the language arts, literacy and phonics lessons and the other class focused solely on early math learning. The phonics is centered around letter recognition, sounds, blending sounds, and early reading. Math is centered around all things early math such as counting, number recognition, shapes, quantification, one to one correspondence, patterns, and more.

Other Details

Learning Needs
As a special education teacher, I know how to adapt my lessons for students regardless of their learning styles. I teach in a inclusion classroom with a combination of special ed students and general education students. Learning for all.
Pre-Requisites
Your child doesn't need prior knowledge to join my tutoring sessions. I will assess your child on day 2 (first day is for getting to know one another and will only be 10-15 minutes free of charge). After day 2, I will know where to start.
Supply List
Please make sure your child has a bag of items we will use for counting and one to one correspondence among other things. As we progress, I will ask for you to provide your child with a small dry erase board and markers.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
Lots of alphabet letters, charts, cards, books and songs. I will incorporate puppets, movement and dry erase board work for morning message among other things. Lots of numbers, manipulatives, counting, songs and fun activities which build a strong foundation in math.
