US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Each 30 minute session will begin with an SEL check-in to allow learners to describe how they are arriving to the session. During the first session initial assessments will be administered to help identify strengths and areas for improvement. Throughout the sessions, regular check-ins will occur to measure progress and adjust lessons. In math, we will cover core topics such as counting, addition, subtraction, number sense, shapes, and simple word problems. We will focus on building a strong mathematical foundation. For ELA we will cover phonics, early reading, vocabulary building, comprehension, and basic writing skills. Sessions help foster confidence in reading and writing. For children who are already excelling, the focus will be on more advanced concepts, creative problem-solving, and challenging activities to deepen their understanding. For students needing extra support, tutoring provides targeted practice on foundational skills, reinforcement, and building confidence in both Math and ELA. We will use online, interactive tools to keep your child engaged and having fun. Sessions can also be tailored to provide assistance with school assignments and preparation for upcoming tests or projects. Sessions are designed to be a comfortable, encouraging environment where students feel safe to ask questions and make mistakes.

Teacher expertise and credentials
With over 9 years of experience teaching first grade, I have a deep understanding of early childhood education and the foundational skills that young learners need to succeed. During my career, I have had the privilege of guiding hundreds of students through their first years of formal education, building their confidence in both Math and ELA. This hands-on experience has equipped me with the knowledge of what works best in the classroom, and how to adapt instruction to meet the needs of each individual student.
For the past 8 years, I have also been tutoring students outside of the classroom, allowing me to refine my skills in one-on-one instruction and personalized learning plans. I have worked with children who need extra support in certain areas, as well as those who are ready to move ahead and benefit from enrichment opportunities. My tutoring experience has taught me how to assess a child’s unique learning style and tailor my approach to ensure success.
In addition to my teaching and tutoring experience, I have been virtually tutoring for the past 4 years. This has allowed me to become highly skilled in using digital tools and online resources to engage young learners in meaningful ways, even in a remote setting. I understand the challenges and rewards of virtual learning, and have developed strategies to keep young students focused, motivated, and excited about learning from a distance.
I hold a Master’s degree in Education, which has further deepened my understanding of child development, curriculum design, and effective teaching strategies. This advanced training, combined with my practical classroom and tutoring experience, allows me to approach each lesson with a deep knowledge of best practices for early literacy and numeracy development.
I am committed to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment for each student, whether they are in need of support, enrichment, or a mix of both. My goal is not just to help students improve academically but also to instill in them a lifelong love of learning.
