US Grade Kindergarten - 2
In this two-week refresher course, students will be introduced to or review first grade reading skills. The first week will focus on fiction reading skills and the second week will focus on non-fiction reading skills. On the final day, we will use the skills we've practiced over the past two weeks to compare a fiction and non-fiction text. Each lesson will begin with an SEL check-in and progress into an introduction or review of the skill of the day. We will then practice the skill as we read a winter-themed text together.

In this lesson, we will see into the future by making predictions.
We will discuss the importance of making predictions when reading a story. We will read a winter-themed story, making and checking predictions as we go along. 30 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
Fiction Facts
In this lesson we will introduce/review the parts of fiction stories. We will read a winter-themed story and together and identify the parts of the story together. 30 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
Super Summarizing
In this lesson we will introduce/review methods to summarize a story. We will read a winter-themed story and use our favorite summarizing method to summarize the story. 30 mins online live lesson
Lesson 4:
It's a Mystery!
In this lesson we will use the skill of inferencing to solve mysteries. We will solve mystery bags and then apply the skill of inferencing to a winter-themed story. 30 mins online live lesson
