In this engaging 8-week creative writing class, students will explore the foundations of storytelling while developing their unique writing voices. Each week, we'll cover essential topics such as character creation, world-building, plot structure, and crafting compelling endings. The class is structured with a mix of direct instruction, interactive discussions, and hands-on activities that encourage creativity and collaboration. Teaching will be dynamic, incorporating various methods like lectures, group brainstorming sessions, and interactive games using Nearpod. Learners will have plenty of opportunities to interact with me and their peers through discussions and collaborative projects on Google Slides. Additionally, students will practice their writing skills through peer reviews, where they will learn to give and receive constructive feedback. Expect a fun experience that fosters a love for writing and storytelling! External resources include Google Suite (specifically Google Slides) for collaborative assignments and Nearpod for quizzes and interactive activities.

Students will explore the basics of creative writing, practice brainstorming ideas, and learn how to give helpful peer feedback, while practicing sensory language in their writing.

Students will focus on character creation and development while learning to write engaging dialogue that brings their characters to life.

Students will learn how to create detailed settings for their stories while exploring and practicing figurative language, including similes and metaphors.

Pre-Requisites
There are no prerequisites for this course. However, learners should have basic writing skills, like forming complete sentences. The most important requirement is a love for stories and a willingness to get creative!
