In this weekly club, we build creations from the interlocking brick sets we already have. (You might have any number of brands, so we will call the bricks with dimples that now include movie characters and robotics themes, "Interlocking bricks" to not give preference to any brands.) Everyone can have their own set. In fact, what makes this super fun is to see everyone's interlocking brick sets. So with the interlocking bricks you already have, and love, come socialize with like-minded kids. The skills we develop include transitions from listening to talking and talking to listening, speaking to a group, 5W and H questions, and creative fun. One of the best skills to learn is how to create, describe, and refine. So come along and try a club. You can hop in and hop out as you see fit. We are always happy to greet new faces with wonderful and clever building ideas! The class schedule is consistent and the variation comes from learner inventions and creations. Each week consists of greetings, building, and show and tell. Week of October 24: Inventive building with show and tell as we go Week of October 31: Inventive building with show and tell as we go Week of November 7: Inventive building with show and tell as we go Week of November 14: Inventive building with show and tell as we go

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Parents!
I hope to guide children like yours to a world of exploration. Let's face it. They are already curious and exploring. They just need an expert guide to help them place their ideas and questions in a learning context.
I am a research scientist by profession and training, and I have worked with youth in five countries (Canada, US, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, and Brazil) from seven different first language households (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Maya Q'eqchi', Maya Mopan, and Yoremnokki).
Topics I focus on include STEM, inventing classes, and social-emotional awareness classes.
My best teachers and professors incorporated lessons of self-discovery, and I offer that same joy of learning to your children. When children share their curiosity with other interested children they gain a great sense of self-esteem. Additionally, show-and-tell of a treasured toy or a creative invention helps build up confidence as well as make for really fun class sessions!
See you in class,
Dr. Drew
Here is a bit more information about me below.
Education and experience:
Ph.D. University of California Riverside - Plant Biology with a concentration in Ethnobotany. This means I explored how families use plants, I held botany workshops in schools, and I did field and laboratory work on the biology of these plants.
M.S. Loma Linda University - Biomedical Sciences with a focus on physiology. This means that I had the fortune to research how arteries develop in the brain, use a proton beam for experiments in the NASA Lab, and learn how to write scientific articles.
B.S. Walla Walla University - Biochemistry with a focus on onion and garlic chemistry. This means that I stunk up my mother's house with the distillation of onion scents to explore the wonderful world of sulfur chemistry.
U.C. Davis Entrepreneurship Academy - Week-long course on entrepreneurship.
École des Entrepreneurs du Québec - Year-long course on entrepreneurship.
