Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
This class is an introduction to the battle of Gettysburg during the American Civil War. I will briefly cover the causes of the civil war, and events leading up to the battle. I will then go into why the battle was fought at Gettysburg, an overview of the battle, the aftermath, and the park itself today. The class will be structured in a lecture, and class participation format. I will share current photographs of the battlefield to show areas that were fought over that now are significant spots in the National Park. I will also show photographs from the time of the battle as well, along with important figure heads of the battle and civilans.
Students will be able to ask questions and their will be class discussion as well on the topic and the pictures. Basic knowledge of the American Civil War would be helpful for the student, however it is not required.
