They should also be practicing vocabulary for homework via flashcards, quizlet, and Kahoot. Participants will upload their answers and receive timely feedback from the teacher. They will also have the deadline of completing their homework by 7 pm MST Sunday.
Assessment
Students will be informally assessed by the teacher on assignments, and sometimes complete an online exercise (such as a Kahoot!) to test their knowledge.

Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 10
Intermediate Level
Class structure will build on students' prior knowledge of the learning Norwegian language. If the student has learned some Norwegian during family interactions/travel, at Skogfjorden (MN) camp or in my Beginning Norwegian class, they should be able to complete intermediate class assignments. (Please review the Beginning Norwegian class description to decide whether or not to enroll the student in intermediate or beginning Norwegian). Students will interact with each other by asking questions in Norwegian. I will teach using slides, screen shares for grammar/vocab practice and some games. My teaching style differs based on what students learn best from (visual, auditory or kinetic). Topics such as current events and typical cultural differences may also be covered via video/newspaper clips.
Content will be shared once a week with 55-60 minute videos with an explanation of how to complete the Ny i Norge homework assignment for each week. There will also be questions/sentence starters for students to be thinking about the content and responding to other participants. New videos will be available Monday mornings by 8 am MST.
Topics covered will include:
Week 1: Review of beginning Norwegian basics: greetings, numbers, colors, weather, geography, prounouns, verbs and adjectives.
Week 2: Clothes, modal auxillaires, pronunciation with emphasis on parts of the word.
Week 3: Simple past tense, types of homes/apartments in Norway, prepositions.
Week 4: Verbs for cleaning the house, freetime activities, common medical ailments.
Week 5: The Norwegian heathcare system, conjunctions, body parts.
Week 6: Verbs related to health and well-being, review of common occupations, labor laws in Norway.
Week 7: Diphthongs and pronunciation with emphasis on parts of the word, Norway's national holiday.
Week 8: Adverbs, dialogue practice, possessive pronouns.
Week 9: Pronouns and adjectives, extended family vocabulary, kitchen utensils.
Week 10: Word order, the Norwegian primary and secondary school system and school supplies, pronoun review.
Week 11: The Norwegian higher education system, plural nouns, preposition review.
Week 12: Final course essay, wrap-up of topics covered.
Learning Goals
Students will build upon their knowledge of Norwegian from family, camp or in my Beginning Norwegian class. They will gain more fluency in their speaking and grammar skills. Students will also learn much more about life and public systems in Norway.
