Learners will learn the basics of linguistics, language history dating to pre-Viking times, and why many words in Nordic languages and English share the same origin. I will use a variety of instructional materials- slides, external sites, and other resources to engage learners. Content will be shared once a week with videos and discussion questions/sentence starters for students to be thinking about the content and responding to questions from other participants. No previous knowledge of any of the Nordic languages or linguistics is required.
