Would you like to take your skill of drawing faces to the next level? If you already have an understanding of the basic proportions of a face but would like to further your skills, this is the class for you! (Before you take this class, be sure to take my class, "Beginner's Drawing - How to Draw a Face!) In this intermediate drawing class, students will apply the concepts they learned in the beginner’s class, while adding details and using more advanced techniques to draw even more life-like features. We will review the basic proportions of the face, and then discuss the intricate details of what makes our faces so unique. Of course, perfection is never a requirement, and students will have the opportunity to use their creativity to create a piece of artwork that they can be proud of. I will be demonstrating the techniques with my students and working right along with them! Learners need a pencil, eraser, a ruler or straight edge, a small bowl that will fill about half of their paper, and preferably sketching paper. (Any blank paper can be used if sketching paper is not available.) Art is about self expression and learning, and I hope to create a fun, interactive environment where students can develop a love for drawing while building their confidence in a new skill.

Teacher expertise and credentials
California Teaching Certificate in English to Speakers of Other Languages
I am a professional artist, specializing in oil portrait paintings, and I have had the privilege of displaying my artwork in venues across the country. I believe that art is about self expression and learning, and I hope to create a fun, interactive environment where students can develop a love for art while building their confidence in a new skill.
I have always struggled with expecting “perfection” of myself, especially in my art, so I am constantly reminding my students, as well as myself, that perfection is not required, and that practice, not unreasonable expectations, is what a advances our skills.
My joy in teaching comes from the comments of my students and their parents, expressing that they created something they didn’t know was possible.
