US Grade 4
In this ongoing course, we will practice our reading comprehension skills. Approximately 24 hours before our scheduled class time, a short story and worksheet will be posted in the classroom for learners to DOWNLOAD and PRINT. Please bring these sheets to class. We will read the story together, find the important details in the passage, answer questions and write a short passage about what we read. Learners should already be able to read paragraphs independently for this class. While phonics will not be taught, we will briefly go over any unfamiliar or difficult words as needed. This class is intended for third graders who are already reading independently, fourth graders reading at grade level or fifth graders wanting extra reading comprehension practice at the fourth grade level. *Please note that the reading passages used rotate every school year. For example, reading passages used in the fall of 2023 will be used again in fall 2024 roughly in the same order. If your learner has enrolled in this class the prior school year, they may have already read the passage.
Learning Goals
Learners will be able to show that they understand the content of the stories read.
