Come read those strange digraphs and blends with us! When two letters start to make one sound or “ur, ir and er” all make the same sound, it can get tricky for young readers. First, we will learn a new sound such as “sh”. Using Google slides, students will take turns reading words with our sound of the day. They will earn fun rewards after each turn! I switch up the rewards based on my mood for the week. Rewards include a variety of puzzle magnets on my whiteboard with each turn it forms into a large picture for learners to eagerly guess what it is. Other rewards include picking a number on my whiteboard to reveal a cake or building a giant ice cream together as a team. After practicing about 20 words using our sound of the day, our learners will begin to read full sentences! Learners should have a good idea of traditional letter sounds before tackling these new sounds. For example, SH - "The fish splashed by the shark. Shelly wished for cash to share. The sheep shearers shout for joy." Here is a breakdown of what sounds we will be tackling: Week of June 12th: SH Week of June 19th: TH Week of June 26th: OR Week of July 3rd: AR Week of July 10th: ALL Week of July 17th: OO/UGH Week of July 24th: OW Week of July 31st: OU Week of August 7th: AW/AU Week of August 14th: OA/OW Week of August 21st: AM Week of August 28th: OI/OY Week of September 4th: ING Week of September 11th: CH

Hello parents and students,
I encourage learning through enthusiastic engagement. I believe children learn best through curiosity or play. Teaching online has been my passion since 2015. I was an online English teacher with VIPKID for over three years and an Outschool teacher for ever since. VIPKID taught me how to engage with students in a virtual setting. They taught me how to use props, singing and demonstrations to increase learning. I encourage student output and participation during class.
I have a bachelors degree in marketing and science. I am an entrepreneur and business owner. I have also been in the beauty industry for over 15 years. I am a homeschooling mother to my twin sons and my two daughters. I am constantly seeking creative ways for my children and students to learn new things.
