I Can Breathe a Rainbow: Mindfulness & Yoga for Kids

Class Experience

In this one-time class, learners will explore mindfulness through the use of colors. They will be introduced to fun, age-appropriate activities including mindful breathing, mindful movement, a scavenger hunt, and a guided visualization technique. Learners will walk away with exercises to support their well-being, emotional regulation, and creativity. Exercises will include:

-Belly breathing
-Rainbow breathing
-"Find a color" scavenger hunt
-Rainbow-inspired yoga moves
-"Imagine a color" guided visualization

Learning Goals

Students will learn mindfulness exercises to support their self-awareness, body awareness, emotional regulation, creativity, and overall well-being. No previous mindfulness or mindful movement is required.

Parental Guidance
By registering for this class, you acknowledge that a certain minimum level of physical health, strength, fitness, and flexibility will be required. While variations will be introduced with yoga postures, you are voluntarily participating in these activities with knowledge of the risks of injury for which you will voluntarily assume. Learners will be encouraged to listen to their bodies and take breaks when needed. You hereby acknowledge that before participating in a class or program involving exercise, you should consult with a physician. You agree that this is a complete release of liability voluntarily assumed for your participation in all activities with the Instructor.
Supply List
-Yoga mat, non-slip socks, or floor that is not slippery
-Space to fit a yoga mat and to move around in
-Comfortable, loose-fitting clothes
-Water bottle
Optional:
-Thick blanket (alternative: beach or large bath towel)

    I am a certified mindfulness, social-emotional learning, and yoga teacher (CYT-200 hours). My method of teaching is secular, inclusive, and with a trauma-informed lens. I currently teach mindfulness online to elementary classes on a weekly basis including age and developmentally appropriate breath work, mindful movement, and visualization & relaxation practices.
