Class Experience

This ongoing class provides a variety of yoga, mindfulness and meditation activities designed for children, to support them manage anxiety and practise relaxation. This ongoing class will initially run for six weeks, but learners will have the option to request to extend the duration of the class if they wish. 

In this ongoing class, learners will explore different techniques and activities for yoga and mindfulness. Children will learn how to calm and relax their minds, to focus and pay attention, to understand and express their thoughts and feelings through gentle yoga postures, breathing, meditation and mindfulness exercises that engage the senses.

Each class will follow a similar structure with a different theme and activities each week.  Each week, students will learn a new breathing exercise to help calm themselves down. We will then explore a new mindfulness activity/game incorporating either focused attention/movement/sound or vision. We will also practise some yoga poses designed for children. 

Children will also have the opportunity to explore and learn more about anxiety and what is happening in their body and mind when they are experiencing anxiety. They will be supported to practise yoga and mindfulness to manage and overcome these feelings of anxiety.  During the class, learners will be introduced to some beautifully guided practices that include yoga practices and breathing and meditation practices, each practice has been specifically designed to stop the anxiety response in the body and leave children feeling calm, peaceful and relaxed.

* Some of the exercises, will ask children to move around so access to some free space where children can move is needed.

Children will be encouraged to practise the activities they learn outside of class in their daily life.

Supply List
Learners will need to wear comfortable clothes and have access to a small space where they can move around if needed and practise some gentle yoga postures.
