In this ongoing class, we will meet weekly to practice mindfulness and calm our emotions through a deep breathing technique and a guided relaxation exercise.

Students will learn the basics of mindfulness through controlled deep breathing and guided relaxation.
Hello all learners and parents! My name is Mandy and I teach classes designed to help children reduce stress and anxiety. I have 16 years of experience using techniques that are research-based and proven to aid in mind/body relaxation. My goal is to help children learn to cope with and manage anxiety through techniques they can use throughout their lives. My academic background is in Clinical Psychology. I have both a B.S. and M.S. in Clinical Psychology and have 20 years of experience working with youth. I have worked in a therapeutic setting since 2004, teaching social skills groups, relaxation exercises, art therapy, and play therapy sessions. As a psychometrist, I have extensive experience administering comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations and cognitive rehabilitation assessments, including vision therapy and neurofeedback, with children and adolescents. I have worked with a wide range of diagnoses (ADHD, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, Autism, Dyslexia, behavior disorders, etc.), ages (age 2 to adult), and intellectual levels (severely delayed to gifted).
No homework!
If possible, please bring a comfortable mat or pillow to use during our guided relaxation exercise. A quiet environment is also very important to be able to maximize relaxation.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Sensitive topics will be avoided. If a student brings up a potentially sensitive/mature topic, the teacher will redirect them to more age-appropriate topics. *Please note that this class is not intended to serve as therapy.
