Description
Class Experience
Students will be able to write a nonfiction paragraph using the TDEC strategy.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Literacy. I have been teaching in New York's public schools for several years now. My experience has allowed me to present my expertise when it comes to teaching English Language Arts topics. I am a fourth grade teacher in New York and much of our English Language Arts curriculum allows us to incorporate writing in correlation with our reading genres. Writer's Workshop is modeled throughout all of our writing lessons. I am familiar with the writing process and what is required of each student to be the best writers they can possibly be.
After our first class session, students will have chosen a topic to write their paragraph about. Students will be required to research their topic. Their research will be used to write a TDEC paragraph in the second class session.
1 file available upon enrollmentA lined piece of paper and a pencil.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be informally assessed based on the completion of their TDEC paragraphs. Students must include a topic sentence, details, explanations, and a conclusion sentence.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
