✨Solve the Rubik's Cube!✨

In this class I will walk the learners through the process of solving a Rubix Cube and how to use logical reasoning to solve the cube.

This type of reasoning is very valuable in everyday life for children, understanding this type of cause and effect is also incredibly helpful when applied to other subjects.

Learners will need to have their own Rubix Cube to play with and it can be useful to take additional notes.

This class is run over 4 weeks and gives the learners time to practice the steps we have learnt and improve. This is a flexible class so does not meet live, there is weekly video instruction and children will be expected to submit their progress to the OutSchool classroom in the form of pictures and videos.

Week 1: We will be introduced to the cube and the names of the movements. We will start solving the first layer and talk about cause and effect - Why and how the movements affect the rest of the cube. Learners will be expected to post pictures of their finished cross and discuss how they found completing the first (and hardest) part.

Week 2: In our second week we will work on finishing the first layer and starting to understand how to swap squares into position. children will be expected to post a short video of their progress and talk in the OutSchool classroom about how confident they are with the solution. They will also need to practice the new technique this week in preparation for the final weeks.

Week 3: This week we will finish the second layer of the cube and establish the top cross. Children will be again need to up load their videos and show each other how they are progressing.

Week 4: In our final week we will finish the top corners and then children will practice solving the cubes and timing themselves to create a leader board in our classroom with times to try and beat.
