In this class, students will learn what a "personal dance portfolio" is, how to build one, and how to draw on it during improvisation. Each class will begin "lecture style", where students will learn the technical components of choreography. This section will encourage students to reach deep into their creativity vault. After brainstorming through technicalities, students will be led through stretching and a warm up, and be able to take their creativity to the floor to improv. Although there are no wrong answers when it comes to improvisation, this class is designed to help dancers from any style tackle an improv moment with open eyes and an open heart. This class is open to any students, no prior dance experience is required.
Learning Goals
Students can come to one class, or multiple classes, for multiple chances to enhance their creativity. By the end of each class, students will walk away with a set of dance moves for their preferred style(s) that they can draw from during improv.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Miss Bree, and I love to dance, read, and write! I have been teaching dance for about 8 years. My favorite styles to teach are jazz, ballet, tap, and hip hop. I have a Master's in Childhood Education with a specialization in English Creative Writing. I believe creativity is a very important aspect of teaching and learning. In my classes, I allow students to move freely with a splash of guidance. Watching students move with their own individual sparkle allows the class to shine as a whole!
