Improvisation is not only a great way to develop as an actor, but it is a great way to break out of one's shell and become more comfortable and expressive. I have been teaching Drama in high school for 19 years and have worked in teen theatre for many more. My students absolutely love doing improvisation and request to do it often. In this on-going class, we will develop scenes off the top of our head and have the luxury to take a bit more time with them than I am able to give in the classroom. A typical class would include: 1. A brief physical warm up 2. Theatre Games 3. Various Improvisational Exercises, such as: A. Taxi Cab B. Freeze Improvisation C. Sub-Conscious Improvisation D. First Line, Last Line 4. Longer Form Improvisations developed by the students During these classes, the learners will get to know one-another, express themselves freely, develop and flex their acting skills and have a lot of fun and laughs along the way! This doesn't mean that more serious topics or scenarios during scenes won't be dealt with, but mostly, the students will, while gaining mastery in improvisation, enjoy themselves while developing their artistic abilities!
Learning Goals
The students will be able to:
1. Warm up their bodies.
2. Create believable characters.
3. Create scenes.
4. Have a lot of fun while learning along the way!

Teacher expertise and credentials
California Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Hello! My name is Danielle Brown and I have been teaching dance and drama for 41 years!
I have taught in day care centers, dance studios, brick and mortar schools and theatres. Currently, I teach drama and dance in high school and have been for 19 years. For my school I not only teach, but I direct our Spring musicals and choreograph for our Liturgical movers.
I have also worked as a director, choreographer and teacher for teen theatre companies and workshops in Southern California. I hold a BA in Theatre and have studied dance throughout studios in Los Angeles. I am also a performer and have performed in plays and musicals both in school and regionally.
I love teaching in the arts as I was "bitten by the bug" at a young age, enjoying learning and performing since the age of 14. I want to share this passion with your children and provide them with experiences they will remember for a lifetime!
One of my favorite experiences was training in Summer at the Teenage Drama Workshop at California State University, Northridge. It was there I learned my craft and also created wonderful memories! I hope you will create wonderful memories, too!
I teach story time classes that include pre-ballet for younger ones, as well as, more advanced acting training for youth and teens. These classes include: improvisation and theatre games. I also teach classes in choreography for teens. Additionally, I teach arts and crafts classes!
Come join me and have FUN creating ART!!!!!
