Improv Icons: Ongoing Acting Drama Improv Club for Teens (Ages 13-18)

Each class, we will dive into different skills in theatre. Acting, improvisation, musicals, and more! This will allow students to feel more confident performing and auditioning.

What's included

1 live meeting
30 mins in-class hours per week
Homework
1 hour per week. There will rarely be homework. Most of it will be prepping a piece before class. Ex: singing a song, monologue performances, etc.
Grading
Students will sometimes receive feedback on their performances to allow them to grow and feel successful in their craft.

Class Experience

🎭 A B O U T  T H E  C L A S S 🎭
-We will practice improvisation with games, and get to be creative while we act as many different characters.
-We will also look into different popular movies and TV shows and practice monologues from them.
-We will practice confidence with acting when reading scenes together. 
-This is a safe space where we can all be ourselves and talk about our passions!

- Introductions, fun questions to get to know each other.
- Fun warm up/game 
- Improvisation scene practice
-Script/monologue reading and learning new acting skills!
-We will focus on musicals if the class wants to.
-Students will have a say in improv scene ideas and any other skills they want to learn!
-Students will be able to have a sense of community and get to have fun with other learners.

-Degree in Theatre Arts and Education
-Two years experience in a classroom setting
-Directed shows for different ages
-Performed in multiple shows with experience in singing, dancing, and technical design

We are going to have a blast learning so many acting skills. Learners are going to gain confidence and learn a new way to express themselves. See you in class!
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding and skills in all things theatre. From acting out dramatic monologues to playing funny improvisation games. There is something here for all theatre lovers!

Parental Guidance
We will have student-led discussions on current broadway shows. Some of these might contain mature material. If we have any games or mature themes we will be discussing/playing, I will send a message before class.
Supply List
Might need prepared musical pieces, costumes, and monologues. (Will know in advance if this is the case.)
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
