Welcome back! I am so excited to delve even deeper into grammar with all of you. I hope you are proud of what you have already learned and how far you've come! Students who have not taken part one of this course are welcome! Students should have a general knowledge of parts of speech such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, etc. In semester two of this high school grammar course, students will continue to learn important foundational components of grammar. Students will focus on using correct grammar in various sentence structures. We will also focus on using grammar to formulate and orchestrate meaning. Students will learn how to create grammatically correct academic writing as well as practice revising and editing various common grammar mistakes. This class is a semester-long course. We will meet twice a week. Every class is different, but the general format of the class is as follows: -Instruction and Teacher-Guided Practice -Small Group and/or Independent Practice- Independent practice is generally presented in the form of games and competitions. In about every fourth class, we will have a class CHALLENGE! This is a fun way for students to review the concepts they've learned as well as compete for bonus points and silly prizes. Students will not be given daily homework; however, quizzes, tests, and studying will be completed outside of class. Most quizzes are very short and will give students a good idea of how well they are understanding the material. We will discuss the correct answers to the quizzes and tests in class together so that students can ask questions and hear explanations for each answer. **This is a grammar only class.
