In this class, we will learn about the life of Harriet Tubman and her great accomplishments in life. Students will then begin writing their reflective journal writing assignments.

Class experience

Students will improve their knowledge of Harriet Tubman's life and her journey. Students will write a reflective journal.
I'm embedded in the culture. I earned my bachelor's degree in Business Management. I am an ESL teacher and tutor and have taught African American courses to my students. In addition, I have 20 years of homeschool experience. During this time, I taught history and African American history for K-12 levels. We viewed presentations, wrote reports, created projects, and went on field trips. I have also taught African American history classes for local educational co-ops. During my years of teaching, I have given speeches and presentations on various cultural topics. In my classes, we will have light discussions where the students can share their thoughts and answer questions. The goal is to learn about the topic but also respect each other's views.
Journal and pen/pencil.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The life of Harriet Tubman does involve slavery which can be a sensitive topic. Some videos or images in regard to this may be shown in the class that may not be suitable for young students.
