Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
This one-time class is excellent for students who are interested in learning about one of the greatest African American baseball player's. I will teach students about the history of Jackie Robinson and how he became one of the first well-known African American Athletes to play in Major League Baseball. They will learn about his life story and how he rose to the top. Students will understand how he persevered through difficulties as a black man during the time of racial prejudice and segregation. We will discuss how he inspired many other African Americans and black athletes to keep moving forward and not give up. We will talk about his early life, how he became a baseball player and his impact in the world. Students will be able to voluntarily participate in discussions. Each student will also be able to interact and share their thoughts, opinions and feelings. Since this topic is related to African American history we will have discussions about racism, inequality, and segregation. Students will understand how this applied to Jackie Robinson's life and how it applies today. They will be able to kindly express their thoughts and opinions on this subject.
This class could possibly go over 30 minutes, as I love to give all students the time speak if they chose to do so.

I have taken many African American courses and surrounding black history. Most importantly, I will allow each student to express their thoughts and opinions about this topic.
