Class Experience

Students will be introduced to four basic types of clouds; stratus, cumulus, cirrus, and cumulonimbus. We discuss each cloud's properties including their shapes, sizes, and location in the atmosphere. We will use simple hand motions to help us remember the difficult names, locations, and what each type looks like. We will look at real pictures to see examples of each and play a game to see if students can identify them based on what they learned. We will also create a cloud picture using cotton balls shaped and glued on paper to illustrate the shape and location of each type of cloud. Finally, students will label their picture and compare and contrast the different types of clouds.
Learning Goals
