First and foremost, this is a Content Rich Writing Class that will assist writers with producing cohesive content in their text responses. Students should have taken GUIDED WRITING BASICS 2 to have a better understanding of what will be presented in this course, which is a continuation of practicing the devices and strategies from the previous classes. (This is not mandatory) The student writer will learn how to brainstorm, close read, annotate, extract key concepts, and construct ideas into a cohesive text response. As you can see these skills are Common Core aligned. The exemplars used in my lessons will be my own written responses to the same directives. This class will include small enrollment so that I can determine how to best assist students with their writing concerns. Let's take a closer look at the many skills your child will learn. ```````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` LESSON OBJECTIVES AND SKILLS TO BE TAUGHT: + Lessons will be presented by using a PowerPoint Slide Presentation. + Lessons will be taught for 21 CONSECUTIVE days. + Descriptive, expository, narrative, and persuasive writing will be addressed. + Student responses will be written in a FIVE-PARAGRAPH essay format. + Brainstorm ideas and organize thoughts to create cohesive final drafts. + Structure/create cohesion in text via using transitional devices and phrases. + Use imagery, similes, metaphors, hyperbole, alliteration, and personification. + Use Aristotle Persuasive Appeals. + Practice using Thesis Statements, Counter Arguments & Rebuttals. + Screenshot my notes or google a story for reference. `````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` This class is a basic writing class and is specifically designed to assist young writers who need additional tips, strategies, and help with their writing.
