US Grade 3 - 6
In this class, the learner will learn a formula for writing a good introduction for an essay. We will look at how to prepare before even beginning to write an introduction as well as how to structure an essay. We will look at how to identify the main problem that the essay title or question wants the learner to address. We will explore how to engage the reader with the use of the second voice and a hook. We will look at the five main ways of writing an engaging hook. We will look at sentence length and sentence structure for an introduction. We will explore the concept of an introduction as being a map of the essay. We will then look at an essay question and write an introduction and I will appraise the learner’s introduction in the class if the learner is comfortable with that. No prior knowledge is required. All learners are welcome.
