Class Experience

US Grade 1
The age range is only a guide. *** You do NOT have to complete any other classes to take this class.

Each class we will read a new book. The books will be guided reading leveled readers from levels, G, H, and I. We will also, learn to read syllables using vocabulary words, reread previous texts, learn, sound out, and review sight words, discuss comprehension questions, complete phonics activities, and engage in guided writing.

Learners will also read to the group, answer questions, and engage in group discussions.

*** Learners that enroll for additional sections will receive new content. This class can run for a full year or as needed. Please contact teacher to arrange.

Guided reading is small-group differentiated instruction that supports students in developing reading proficiency. The small-group allows teachers to target specific learning needs, provide appropriate scaffolding, and gradually reduce support to promote independence.

This class is a great supplement to your existing reading program (end of Kindergarten- mid 1st grade reading levels).
Learning Goals
Students will improve reading skills, phonics, sight words, fluency, and comprehension.
