2nd Grade Reading Supplement - Full Year

Each class we will read a 2nd grade level passage.  The passages will be decodable reading paragraphs and books, or authentic text leveled readers from levels J, K, L, or M.  Text will be chosen based on your learner's needs.  We will also, focus on complex phonics skills, reread text for fluency, learn and review sight words/ heart words (sounding out), discuss comprehension questions, complete word study activities, and engage in guided writing; as appropriate.

Learners will also read out loud, answer questions, and engage in discussions.

Private 1:1 instruction will support learners in developing reading proficiency.  The teacher will target specific learning needs, provide appropriate scaffolding, and gradually reduce support to promote independence. I use Science of Reading best practices and Orton-Gillingham styled phonics instruction.  Lessons will be designed for each learner and appropriate for struggling and advanced readers, as well as Dyslexic learners.

This class is a great supplement to your existing reading program (2nd grade reading level).
