US Grade 7 - 10
Beginner - Advanced Level
In this ongoing class, teacher and learners will work together to learn and practice the rules of grammar based on The Common Core, the requirements of individual states, and the SAT and ACT. We will begin working with simple sentences and work towards more in-depth understandings. We will use video clips, slides, discussion, and games to understand how language works. Students will play games and interact with each other and the teacher to practice and master grade-level standards. Each week of lessons will be independent, so learners can come and go as their schedules permit. We will begin each week with a detailed standards-based discussion and proceed to practice, exercises, and games to use the skills that we are learning. We will not depend on memorization; we will discuss and practice the skills that we are learning so that learners take ownership of their learning and develop true understanding. I have years of experience working with learners with disabilities, so if your learners struggle, this is the place for them. We will work together to create a safe and enjoyable learning environment in which ALL learners achieve and succeed. I encourage parents to reach out and share with me any concerns that they have about their learner's abilities and progress. Learners will be provided with class documents to print before class. Please ensure that your learner has their documents for each class meeting. Much of the classwork will be based on these documents. Enrollment details: Once you enroll your learner, the enrollment fee will be deducted from your credit card each Sunday unless you stop your subscription. This is easy to do on the Outschool webpage. The payment covers the following week's worth of lessons. Your learner's spot in the course is guaranteed as long as you do not stop your subscription.
Learning Goals
Learners will improve their understanding of nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions, and prepositions. They will develop an understanding of phrases and clauses and how they interact to form sentences.
